4 cards made this week

its been a couple of weeks since I blogged, and I have spent this week making 4 cards. Needed to make a birthday card for a friend's husbands birthday, found some gardening decoupage and also used some lovely buttons I bought whilst in Canada, its 1 6" x 6" scalloped edge card.

I have a very extensive collection of peel-offs which had gone unused for many months apart from the occasional peel-off greeting but I recently bought a box full from a friend on DO craft forum and thought they would make useful cards to start building up my card box where I can just pop in and pick up a card when needed, used to have lots in reserve but recently have only made cards when specifically needed. I am away from home a lot caring for my 6 year old niece whilst my sister is abroad on business and I cant take much craft stash, so peel-offs, backing paper, gems, DST and glue as well as the cards themselves are about all I can take, along with some decoupage to cut out and layer up.

I really enjoyed finding papers to back the peel-offs onto then cut them out and then make the new toppers onto cards along with patterned papers, holographic card, gems and pearls. I also have an extensive stash of card and paper off-cuts divided up into colour, style etc and hadn't dipped into them for months, so as my aim this year is to really start using what stash I already own but had forgotten I had, I used 8 different papers and card off-cuts (from 6" x 6" to small offcuts) on these 3 cards.

The first card is a small gatefold card  from my made up card stash (4.5" x 3.5") and to co-ordinate with the oriental dress topper I used Wild Rose Studios 'In Love with Japan' floral paper, along with holographic paper and pink glittered card all from my stash. As half the back of the dress is showing inside the card, I used the same paper to cover the back to make it look neater. I finished off the card with 14 pearls bought in Canada.

This second card is a 6" x 6" card, the pink paper was free from a craft magazine last year, not sure which one, spotted paper which made the handbag topper also from my scraps stash, the gems were bought in Canada last year, the purple holographic card was also from my scraps stash and the lilac paper is from Wild Rose Studios 'In Love With Japan' 6" x 6" paper pad. Finished off the card with gems bought in Canada.

This last card is a get well card for my friend Ginny who had a hip operation today, all papers are from my scraps stash, all on an A6 purple card base. finished off the card with gems from Canada.

thankyou for any comments, Fi x

5 cards made with my new Hunkydory kits

This week I bought the Hunkydory Touch of Class kit which features 'Champagne Bubbles' for wedding anniversaries, Handbag Heaven (along with cupcake designs - not used them yet).
I made 3 anniversary cards using the Champagne Bubbles printed cardstock, foiled toppers and sentiments, paper ribbons and just added a little extra foiled backing paper and glitter card and matt pearl cardstock to matt and layer the designs onto.

I also made a birthday card using the Handbag Heaven cardstock, foiled topper and foiled sentiment and an A4 sheet of black glitter card folded in half to make an A5 card base.
This last card combines 2 Hunkydory kits, the topper and gold foiled sentiment came in a goodybag swap on DOcrafts and feature 'The First Dance', I trimmed down the topper so it would fit an A5 cardbase, made from my new Hunkydory Antique Flourish 'The Manor House' mini kit, and a co-ordinating foiled sentiment.

thanks for any comments

busy week crafting anniversary cards, christmas cards, birthday cards and a sympathy card (11 in total)

I have had several late night crafting sessions this week and made a total of 11 cards. the first 3 are anniversary cards.

they feature Flutterby Wishes and other decoupage, Papermania Vintage notes die-cut hearts, peel-offs and patterned papers and mirror card all from my stash.

the next 2 cards are birthday cards for docraft friends, the housemouse decoupage card was for Emma (Trenouth) whose birthday was on 14th august and the Create and Craft oriental floral decoupage card was for Angie's birthday (JustAng) which is today (16th August), happy birthday ladies x

this next card is a  Flutterby wishes sympathy card for Joy a Docrafts friend who lost her husband recently.

These last 3 cards are all Christmas decoupage cards. They feature Carley's Christmas mirror card (from Create and Craft, not really mirror, more like foiled card, but none the less gorgeous) in their backgrounds. for this first card I used a Chrsitmas tree peel-off, backed it with green pearl card, cut it out and added lots of tiny adhesive gems for the baubles.

I also made 2 other cards but cannot get them on the right orientation, sorry. they are a House Mouse decoupage birthday card and an 8" x 8" Christmas decoupage card.

Graduation celebration card and photos and 10 other cards made this week

It was such a joy to travel to Bristol Cathedral on Friday 26th July for our son and his partners graduation ceremony. Dan gained a first class Honours in his LLB (Law Degree), sorrel did the same degree and gained a 2:1, we are very proud of both their achievements, and needless to say both sets of parents took many photographs, not seen most of them yet as they are on Dan's camera (and they are on holiday in lake Como in Italy, an end of degree holiday with her family and we are also waiting for the official photographs we ordered, but I do have 3 lovely photos which sum up a day we shall never forget.

The first photo is Dan and Sorrel with Andy and myself outside the cathedral before the ceremony.

the 2nd photo is of us and Sorrel's family, back at Dan and Sorrel's home toasting their success with champagne.

This last photo is my favourite and now my pc wallpaper, it is of Dan and Sorrel just outside the cathedral after their graduation ceremony.

this is my graduation card to Dan and Sorrel, its made from Funky Hands Word Book CDRom, using the Bad Ted set.

As the large letters stand proud of each letter page, the pages had to be cut out individually, as did the co-ordinating lower case letters on the front page, this took hours but it was a labour of love, the card ended up being over 1 foot long and not too stable but it looked good resting on their bookshelves in front of photos they had framed. Each page was decorated with congratulation messages and a photo of the graduates but I have not uploaded these.

I'd not got around to much blogging last month, mainly due to the heat especially upstairs in my craftroom, so I thought I would blog early today before the heat arrives. Last week I was unable to sleep at all one night so I sat on my recliner chair catching up on craft tv shows and made lots of cards, featuring House Mouse, Kanban kits and Hunkydory Flutterby Wishes kit

You can't tell the depth of the decoupage on this adorable image, it has 4 layers and was one of the easier sheets to cut out, some HM images are very fiddly especially their tiny long tails but this one wasn't too bad, its a birthday card for my dear friend Lynda who loves all shades of lilac and purple. the glittery paper came from Poundland and the purple and patterned papers came from my stash along with the 6" x 6" scalloped card.

The next 4 cards are all made from the Hunkydory Flutterby wishes cardmaking kit which came free with a craft mag a couple of months ago, the kit has gone a long way and so far I have made 13 cards from it and I still have one large decoupage topper and several backing papers to use up.

1) 18th birthday card for Jaz, Carrie's big sister.

2) quick birthday card for my friend Noreen who doesn't like fancy cards.

3) This card  features a FW floral topper as well as  Papermania vintage notes die-cut hearts from a docrafts goodybag bought earlier this year for mothers day by my daughter Anne-Marie.

4) This is an anniversary card featuring a FW butterfly and Papermania Vintage notes die-cut doily and 'Love' sentiment.

the next  4 cards are made from Kanban kits bought recently on offer from CraftyDevils website.

1) New home card for Pam (Pamsie) a doCrafts forum friend and her husband Roy.

this card features die-cut decoupage topper as well as Posies scrapbook kit alphas bought years ago from QVC.

2)

Kanban die-cut decoupage topper, not sure if this will be a birthday or anniversary card yet.

3)

Cute rein-dog Christmas card featuring die-cut decoupage and co-ordinating topper along with green Kanban Merry Christmas backing card.

4)

this card features Kanban die-cut beach theme hearts, the pink glitter paper is from Poundland, the rest of the card is made from my stash.

thanks for any comments you may leave.

A weekend of crafting (mainly Hunkydory)

I really enjoyed starting to craft with my free Hunkydory Flutterby wishes kit, I uploaded the first 2 cards last weekend. My hubby Andy went off to watch truckracing at Thruxton Race Circuit all last weekend, so that left me at home crafting to my hearts content, I made 7 cards in total last Sunday, and still have tons of the kit to use.

these are the 5 cards I made from the kit, 2 birthday cards, 2 anniversary cards and 1 thankyou card.

I also enjoy cutting out decoupage and made these 2 butterfly decoupage cards.

first 2 cards made from Hunkydory Flutterby Wishes (came free with Cardmaking & Papercraft magazine)

Its been another stressful week, nothing new there, and I'd not felt like crafting at all until yesterday. I pushed out all the die-cut decoupage from the Hunkydory Flutterby Wishes free cover gift with the latest issue of Cardmaking and Papercraft and layered it up with 3D foam. Its not my usual type of crafting as I love the challenge of cutting out my decoupage but I needed to make some female birthday cards for craft friends on DOCrafts forum and the colours are so pretty and fresh. they are both A5 cards and use toppers, sentiments and backing papers from the pack, I've just added mirror card and adhesive gems to finish the cards off.

a thankyou and a birthday card (both using promarkers)

This week Andy and I went on a mini break to Herefordshire and stayed in a superb 4* farm guesthouse for 2 nights, I took some of the dfonated stamped images and enjoyed sitting on the bed in the early evenings colouring with my new promarkers which I just LOVE and can't wait to add more colours to my collection. this first phot ws taken at a superb pub where we had dinner on Tuesday evening.

This 2nd photo was taken just before we left the guest house to come home on Wednesday morning.

The first card I made was for our church admin manager Mike who has been arranging for homemade evening meals to be brought round to us til I'm well enouight to prepare evening meals myself, either cooked by himself or from other memebers at church who know us, all have been yummy, I gave him this card card and told him  I tried not to make it too girly, to which he replied humourously "I'm in touch with my feminine side!"
6" scalloped card and floral paper edged with TH shabby shutters distress ink. donated image coloured with promarkers and embellished with London Line gems, card finished with red card candi, red spotty grosgrain ribbon and printed 3D sentiment. the message on bouquet of flowers says "thanks Mike".

The 2nd card was made for our great-niece Grace's 1st birthday, image coloured Friday evening, card made today.
I used another donated, diecut and embossed LOTV image and coloured it with promarkers, added grosgrain robbon, blue card, and London Line pearls, the paper is from Wild Rose Studio 'In Love with Japan' 6" paper stack, all on my favourtie 6" scalloped edge card base.
